Foggy Wharf Composite Deck

A 12 by 20 Trex deck in Foggy Wharf gray with a full staircase and landing. A Rain Escape system under the joists doubles the deck as a roof, so the ground-level space underneath stays dry.

Project notes

What the archive shows.

A deck that works as a roof.

Ben built this deck 12 by 20 off the back of the home, with a full staircase and a landing down to the yard. The boards are Trex composite in Foggy Wharf gray, run tight and wrapped with a black aluminum rail around the platform and the stairs.

A Rain Escape system sits under the joists and carries rain off to the side. The deck sheds water before it reaches the ground, so the space underneath stays dry.

The deck itself becomes the roof over that space. The family gets dry, covered outdoor room at ground level, out of the rain and shaded from the sun.

Built to hold its finish.

Trex composite keeps its color through Pennsylvania winters and takes no staining or sealing. A rinse brings it back.

Black aluminum posts, rail, and stair stringers line up from the door to the last step, so the whole run reads as one piece.
